Why can't people just show some support for the YOG

And many others
Why can't people show support for the YOG.
The YOG is opportunity for Singapore to showcase whats its has to the world. Singapore after all is a little red dot on the world map and it is unbelievable that she has managed to host the YOG. However, Singaporeans fail to accept the fact that while 300+ million dollars is spent on the YOG, most of the money goes to local companies. This huge spending has probably provided jobs for the economy etc. It is certainly not a waste of taxpayers money. Many of the Singaporeans, especially the younger generation, often critise the PAP for wasting money etc. They do not know how to appreciate the work our forefathers had put in for our past, present and future. Many fail to realise what we as a small nation with no natural resources has achieved during the past 45 years.

  1. I think those Singaporean who do not support for the YOG are not proud of the country. It is such an honour that Singapore host the very first YOG. It is so meaningful, when "the very first YOG was held by Singapore in 2010" was heard in the future, it would be people feel so proud, wouldn't it? I think those childish people out there should not critisis PAP for "wasting money", it is "using money". Singapore can benefit from YOG in so many ways and they dare say it is a waste of money? They could not see the gain behind the temporary lost.
I bet they themselves waste more money. shame on them

  2. I feel that people do not support YOG because they do not get to watch the games in person. Students such as us have to attend school and thus do not have the luxury of watching the games. I also feel that Singapore did not publicise the games well enough. The only form of publicity I have seen on tv that I have seen is the song "Everyone". Thus I feel Singapore has not done enough

  3. After reading Qing Zhou's post, I feel quite shocked by the fact that our citizens do not show any support for the YOG. However, I think that the YOG came at the wrong time of the year, during students' test period, which then causes a lot of students unable to buy the tickets in case of a clash between a test and the YOG game. As the YOG games are played by teenagers around our age, I assume that it should be meant for us to watch. In my own opinion, I conclude that it is true that Singpore citizens do not show any support for the YOG and that most spectators are forced to watch the games. One example is the students in school uniform who watch the shows after school time, I heard that they are forced by their schools to buy the tickets. All in all, I feel that the YOG is a rare opportunity for us to watch as it is held in our homeland and that we should all grab this opportunity.
